A women’s group has labelled a footballer’s threat to rape an opponent’s mother as ‘typical’.
West Coast Eagle Patrick McGinnity made the derogatory comments to Melbourne’s Ricky Petterd during Sunday’s game.
Women’s Council for Domestic Violence Project Officer Jackie Newbigin says the comment trivialises rape and is disrespectful to women. (listen to audio)
McGinnity received a one match ban and a two-thousand-five-hundred dollar fine.
