Planning starts on Ellenbrook rail

A major tender has been awarded to a company that will help plan the Morley-Ellenbrook train line.

The line will support transport connections for communities in the northern suburbs.

Perth-based consultancy group Arup was awarded the tender to work with the METRONET team to plan the early stages of the project.

In March, Ellenbrook residents provided feedback on the project to assist in the planning of the new rail line.

Transport Minister Rita Saffioti said initial planning and early community consultation for the line had taken place and the project was entering a more detailed planning phase.

“The awarding of these tenders will allow the project team to progress developing the necessary business cases for the proposed projects so [the] Government can assess the best outcome for the community,” she said.

The METRONET team is weighing up the best route for the line.
