Midnight Oil plans to reunite for an Australian and overseas tour in 2017.
Speculation about the band’s future was sparked by lead singer Peter Garrett’s decision to step away from politics in 2013.
This morning, the bank announced on its Facebook page that the band would soon tour for the first time in more than a decade.
The band officially broke up in 2002 when Garrett decided to pursue a career in politics with the Australian Labor Party.
Long-time fans of Midnight Oil took to their Facebook page to express their excitement today.
Patrick Heflin, a fan from America, said on Facebook “Yes, yes yes…. and for the love of God… Please get in the studio….Love you guys. America needs Midnight Oil – Just look at the politicians we have as options! #youweremissed”
