Scoop Publishing has confirmed today the closure of its lifestyle publications, after 19 years of operation.

Managing director David Hogan said the poor state of the economy was to blame.

“We ceased trading on the Friday and we notified the staff at 3.30 pm and then closed the office down at the end of the day,” he said.

“The business is, in its current form, is no longer viable.

“The WA economy has impacted heavily on advertising revenue, and advertising revenue is what we’ve always relied on [for funding].”

Founded in September 1997, the independent company, based in Subiaco, produced nine magazines.

In 2015, the company’s online assets were sold and run independently as Scoop Digital, which will continue operating.

Mr Hogan said it was important staff received their full entitlements.

“We did make sure that everyone’s superannuation was all paid up, and all staff got paid up to the date,” he said.
