Media suicide guidelines

A crisis support group has welcomed new media guidelines for the reporting of suicides.

The topic has largely been avoided by the Australian media in the past.

But the Australian Press Council’s new guidelines encourage journalists to report on suicides.

Brendan Maher from Lifeline Australia, says he believes it will help increase awareness of the issue.
