A Roy Morgan poll released yesterday shows community support for gay marriage has risen to 68 per cent.
The six per cent climb in support comes on the back of recent WA and ACT Labour party motions to recognise gay marriage.
Federal Labour members remain resistant to policy change, with backbencher John Murphy calling for a referendum on the issue.
Australian Marriage Equality convener ALEX GREENWICH says there is no need for a referendum as the Constitution will remain unchanged.
