Lifesavers

The Cancer Council of Western Australia say caps are not an effective form of sun protection for surf lifesavers.

Surf Life Saving Australia is investigating whether to remove the cap from its uniform.

Emma Douglas from the Cancer Council says the introduction last summer of mandatory wide brimmed hats was a positive move towards better sun protection. (listen to audio)

Ms Douglas says sun protection is also important for  older life savers. (listen to audio)
