Fans of electronic music do not have to trek up to Perth anymore to find upcoming gigs; Fremantle’s Swan Basement is now home to BASSment, a night of eclectic electronic acts.

Events promoter, Alia Glorie, has taken on the position to fill the Swan Hotel’s basement with a monthly musical event. Grieved by the lack of electronic acts playing south of the river, Alia decided to create a night that consisted purely of DJ’s and producers of electronic music.

This week heralds another first with an entirely all female line-up, including Alia Glorie herself going by the name of Oxygen. ‘The electronic music scene is really male dominated’ she says ‘a lot of women don’t get an opportunity to get out there.

Supporting local electronic acts, BASSment runs the last Friday of every month.
