With the likes of Ned Kelly and ‘Mad Dog’ Morgan gaining mainstream infamy, bushrangers have earned a reputation as gun-toting madmen on the wrong side of the law.

Yet, a good guy is exactly how experts describe Moondyne Joe, Western Australia’s convict-turned-outlaw with a knack for pulling off daring escapes.

So, what makes Moondyne Joe such an anomaly and why does he continue to capture hearts more than a century later?
