Fremantle will be without key defender Alex Williams, but will regain forward Kellie Gibson for its do-or-die AFLW clash with North Melbourne at Fremantle Oval on Saturday.
The Dockers AFLW will make their first ever finals series if they defeat the Kangaroos, but will have to do it without Williams.
Dockers AFLW Head Coach Trent Cooper said losing Williams was a big blow.
“(It’s a) devastating loss for the team, just the way she plays, but her as a person and what she brings to the group, she’s got a long career ahead of her so looking forward to seeing that unfold,” he said.
Cooper said that he would look at various options to fill the defensive gap, including best and fairest winner Ebony Antonio, rising star nominee Sabreena Duffy, and captain Kara Donnellan.
The Dockers have won every game at home this season and will once again be looking for an energetic crowd at this weekend’s game to help give them a boost.
“It’s definitely a huge advantage,” Cooper said.
“We’re expecting a big crowd, we’ve been getting good crowds anyway but the noise they make is massive (and) hopefully we can get an even bigger crowd on Saturday and use that to our advantage.”
The match kicks off this Saturday at 4:10pm WST at Fremantle Oval. Entry is free.
