Bush fires in the Pilbara region

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has issued bush fire advice for the Shire of East Pilbara and the Town of Port Headland.

The first fire started near the intersection of Yandeyarra Road and Great Northern Highway in Marble Bar, with the second occurring near the Skull Springs Road and Howard Road, two kilometres east of Nullagine.

Members of the public travelling along Great Northern Highway in Wodgina, and in the vicinity of Skull Springs, are urged to follow bush fire advice issued by the DFES.

The Skull Springs blaze burnt through 60 hectares of land. Firefighters have been monitoring it throughout the day.

There is no current threat to lives or homes, but there is a large amount of smoke in the area.

The cause of both fires is unknown.
