Scientists discover a way to inhibit breast tumours

Researchers from the University of North Texas have found a way to stop breast cancers from growing.

The scientists discovered that a specific protein was directly linked to the growth of multiple cancer types. They then set about finding a way to reverse the effect.

A drug that was already approved for human use was found to destroy the NAF-1 protein.

The findings were released yesterday by the university’s Department of Biological Sciences.

Researchers now hope to make the drug even more effective and reduce the side effects.
