Fashion in the age of technology – the 2016 Met Gala

It’s that time of year again … yes, the time has come for us all to take notice of our favourite celebrities as they get dressed up with somewhere to go.

Where are they going, you ask? The Met Gala!

It’s been a hot topic of discussion around our office today, mostly as we trawl the internet to findΒ  Instagram and Twitter posts. Somehow, I’ve talked my editor into letting me write this story.

I’m sure most reality TV and celebrity junkies like myself would know the basics, but for those of you who do not, here’s a brief run down:

THE MET GALA
– Formally known as Costume Institute Gala.
– The cool $25,000 tickets are part of the fundraising activities of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.
– There’s a very exclusive guest list with only 650 invitations.
– This years theme was fashion in the age of technology.
– Vogue Editor Anna Wintour, whose magazine is a major sponsor, implemented a strict “no selfie” rule.

Now you’re all up to speed, enjoy the following snaps of your fave celebs, all of which have been cultivated from Twitter and Instagram.

Even at 50, supermodel Cindy Crawford looks amazing.

The always-in-the-spotlight Kardashian klan rolled out in style again this year, with Kendell Jenner appearing in a leave-nothing-to-the-imagination sheer blue and metal number.

While Kenny bared it all, Kylie let us know she was coming …. from a mile away.

Possibly the most well known woman in the world Kim Kardashian, fronted the Kardashian Krew with hubby Kanye West. In recent years Kimye have shocked us with interesting uses of fabric and um style. This year was no expection with Kim sporting a gown similar to a suit of amour, while Yeezy changed up his eye colour for a fresh outlook. One twitterhead said what we were all thinking.

The night was arguably stolen by Claire Danes in what I’m calling a bright future for fashion. The My So Called Life star brought together old-timey gala garb in the form of a cinderalla inspired outfit and combined it with lighting to create this masterpiece.

But not everyone was as excited about the stars rolling up in their finest. One guy gave Beyonce’ a Twitter takedown for her latex-looking number.

But hey at least she was fully covered, unlike someone’s Mum … aka Madonna.
Madge, now into her 50s, bared all in this revealing, um, outfit?

And let us not forget the always-stylish and always-intimidating Vogue Magazine Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, with her posse.

Who were your best and worst dressed?
