A 40-year-old man has died and two people have been injured after being shot at Bankstown Central Shopping Centre in Sydney.
NSW Police found the 40-year-old man with “critical gunshot wounds”.
The man died at the scene despite receiving treatment from police and ambulance staff.
A 60-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman received injuries to the lower leg.
Bankstown Police Supt. David Eardley said it was not a random assault.
“Clearly, it’s concerning any time people have a want to go and use firearms to settle a dispute,” he said.
“What I can say about this incident, it’s clearly targeted.
“This isn’t a random shooting, it is clearly targeted towards the man who has died as a result of the gunshot wounds.”
He said the shooter was not alone and a white Mercedes was found burnt in the Green Acre area.
