Armadale and Cockburn City have pulled off upsets in the FFA Cup to advance to the quarter finals of the WA leg of the competition.
Armadale beat last year’s winners Sorrento 3-2 at Alfred Skeet Reserve yesterday, ending Sorrento’s dream of consecutive state cup titles, while Cockburn City defeated Bayswater City 2-0 at Dalmatinac Park.
The teams that reach the semi finals of the WA cup competition will earn themselves a spot in the national FFA Cup.
Football Margaret River became the last country team to be knocked out when they were thrashed 8-0 at home by State League side Gosnells City.
NPL league leaders Inglewood United turned on the style in the second half to score six goals against Dianella White Eagles, while Stirling Lions beat last years finalists Perth SC 2-1 at Macedonia Park thanks to goals from David Sesay and Robert Petkov.
Elsewhere, there were wins for Floreat Athena, Curtin University and Balcatta FC.
Curtin University and Gosnells City are now the only remaining State League representatives in the competition.
