An 18-year-old man will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today after a young woman was attacked in Guildford about 6pm yesterday.
Police claim the assault followed an argument. The woman received serious head injuries and was taken to St John of God Midland Public Hospital.
The man fled from the scene in a stolen silver Audi Quattro sedan and was later spotted driving on Lord St in Bassendean.
Police said he was chased by officers and cornered in a Morley cul-de-sac. He then drove the car into the police vehicle in an attempt to get away.
A police officer was taken to Royal Perth Hospital with back injures and the man was caught after trying to run away from the accident.
Midland Detectives have charged the man with doing an unlawful act with intent to harm, reckless driving, assault with intent to prevent arrest, stealing a motor vehicle, no authority to drive, and failure to stop.
