An unidentified man who was reported missing after an early morning car crash has been found today on a farm near Cowaramup.
Police said the man, aged in his 30s, went missing about 1am after crashing a hire car into a tree on Caves Road, about 1km north of Cowaramup Bay Road in Gracetown.
“He’s been found safe and well,” Margaret River police sergeant Brett Cassidy said.
Police earlier thought the man had gone in the opposite direction and searched the bushland in nearby Cape Naturaliste Park.
Sergeant Cassidy said the driver fled the scene running through the bush to a farm because he believed he was being chased.
The Australian Institute of Criminology estimates about 35, 000 people go missing in Australia every year.
About 95 per cent of missing persons cases are resolved quickly, according to the Australian Federal Police.
