SHANNON GILLESPIE
I wanted to make a photograph that featured both the Narrows Bridge and the Perth city skyline, and I was thrilled to get under the bridge and find a fisherman casting off in just the right spot to make a silhouette.
Unfortunately, when I knelt down and set up the shot, the fisherman decided he wanted nothing to do with me, swept up bucket and line and scurried like a sand crab to the other end of the foreshore to get out of my shot.
I hope he got a bite or two on that side.
This photo is one in a series of Perth hotshots – a selection of photojournalism by students at Curtin University in the Western Australian state capital of Perth.
