This shot is of a mother and daughter shopping at the Harbour Town centre in West Perth.
I noticed the door to the shop’s back room had a large hole in it, and thought this could help me frame the shot.
I asked the shop owner if I could take photographs from the room, and the two women if they would let me photograph them from in there.
All agreed.
The two women told me they planned to spend the afternoon hunting bargains.
This photo is one in a series of Perth hotshots – a selection of photojournalism by students at Curtin University in the Western Australian state capital of Perth.
