'First come first served' water reviewed

The amount of water allocated to WA’s mining industry is set to be reviewed with environmental groups calling the current system “unsustainable”.

Mining companies do not currently pay for the water they use and a “’first come, first served’ allocation policy applies to both the mining and agricultural industries.

The Economic Regulation Authority will review the state government’s water policy and recommend changes.
