Voges named Scorchers’ Coach

Adam Voges is the new Head Coach of both the Perth Scorchers and Western Warriors following Justin Langer’s departure from the role.

Voges, 38, captained the Scorchers to two of their Big Bash Championships over a 15-year career before retiring at the end of February 2018.

Voges hit five centuries for Australia from his 20 test matches

““I’m thrilled about leading this group of exciting young players. We already have strong foundations in WA and I’m looking forward to building on them, the values, the structures and the people are all excellent,” Voges told the Perth Scorchers.

“The high performance staff are some of the best in the country, even in the world. I’ve worked with them as a player and captain for a long time and know I couldn’t do this role as well without their support.

“The next step to take WA forward is to grow our program and build depth in young local cricketers.”

Voges gained previous leadership experience as mentor for the WA Under 19 cricket team, and as Director of Cricket Operations at Melville Cricket Club.

The batsman played 58 matches for Australia, including tests, 20/20’s and one-dayers, smashing 1485 runs over his career.
