Voting opens in Melville’s Friendly Neighbour Award

The City of Melville has opened the voting for its Friendly Neighbour Awards, after the community was asked to nominate friends in celebration of Neighbour Day last month.

Councillors asked the community to nominate their favourite neighbours. The five nominees who receive the most votes in an online poll will each win a $100 gift voucher.

City of Melville councillor Karen Wheatland says the award aims to bring the community closer, allowing people to praise their neighbours or use it as an opportunity to get to know them.

“People will take a chance and give neighbours some consideration and maybe recognition for what is ordinarily a very Australian thing to do – to be neighbourly,“ she says.

Voting is open for the Friendly Neighbour Award until midday on Wednesday May 2 at www.melvilletalks.com.au/friendlyneighbours
