Unemployment rate hits three-year low

Australia’s unemployment rate has reached its lowest rate since September 2013, falling to 5.6 percent.

While Australian Bureau of of Statistics figures show 3900 jobs were lost last month, the employment rate fell because of the number of people who left the work force.

Despite an increase in the number of people searching for full-time work, the number searching for part-time employment fell.

But the unemployment numbers don’t include those who are underemployed and work less hours than they would like.
