Police seize massive haul of illicit drugs

Police have seized a large quantity of illicit drugs with a street value of more than $4 million dollars.

The raid, held on Tuesday, was the result of an investigation conducted by the Serious and Organised Crime Division’s Meth Teams after they identified several people suspected in being involved in the illicit drug trade.

On Tuesday, Meth Team Detectives and Tactical Response Group officers intercepted a vehicle in Innaloo and another in Maylands.

Search warrants were issued for properties in several suburbs, including East Perth, Innaloo and Highgate.

Overall, police seized 2.5 kgs of methamphetamine and as 16.7 kgs of ecstasy. Cocaine, steroids and cannabis were also found.

Police will allege the drugs were intended for use in nightclubs and pubs.

Five men between the ages of 26 and 54 have been charged with offences including possesing a prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply, possessing a prohibited drug and possessing stolen or unlawfully obtained property.

The men have all appeared in Perth Magistrate Court and are due to appear again at a later date.
