Limnios calls for Scaffidi to resign

Perth Deputy Lord Mayor James Limnios has called for Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi to stand aside after the release of a Department of Local Government report into undeclared travel and gifts.

Mr Limnios released a statement this morning in which he called for her to stand aside until the State Solicitor’s office had decided whether to pursue the alleged breaches in the State Administrative Tribunal.

“After reading the local government department report several times, I have come to the conclusion that the Lord Mayor’s position is now untenable and I feel that she should now stand aside at least until a formal decision has been made,” he said.

“My conscience does not allow me to stand by and not protect the interests of the City of Perth.

“The report states that the Lord Mayor has failed on numerous occasions to declare travel-related gifts which is concerning, however my major concern is around the acceptance of some of those gifts.

“In particular, the Broome Cup and Beijing Olympic gifts.”
