Leicester City will win a historic first Premier League title on Sunday if they can beat Manchester United at Old Trafford after Tottenham stumbled overnight against lowly West Bromwich Albion.

Tottenham could only manage a 1-1 draw with the Baggies at White Hart Lane, meaning that three points for the Foxes against Louis Van Gaal’s side will guarantee the Midlands team wins a fairytale title that was once considered a 5000-1 chance.

Former Leicester City and England striker Gary Lineker told BBC Sport that his team was about to complete “the most unlikely triumph in team sport”.

Leicester City has defied expectations all season after narrowly avoiding relegation to the Championship in 2014-15.

Victory over Swansea on Sunday secured the Foxes a UEFA Champions League position and manager Claudio Ranieri said after the game it was time for his players to make the dream a reality.

“I talked to my players before the game and said that it has been a dream so far, so now make the dream reality,” Ranieri said.

Tottenham is now seven points behind Leicester with just three games to play and must rely on Manchester United, Everton and Chelsea to all take points from Ranieri’s team.

Spurs went ahead thanks to a 33rd minute own goal from West Bromwich defender Craig Dawson, but were pegged back when Dawson scored at the right end in the 73rd minute.

Leicester meets Manchester United on Sunday at 9pm WA time.
