Tickets to the Fremantle Dockers’ opening finals match against the Sydney Swans went on sale today.

Some dedicated Fremantle members queued from 8.30pm Sunday to ensure they got their hands on the best possible seats.

Members had until 1pm to purchase tickets, with seats becoming available to the general public after 2pm.

Michael Arangio, who has been a member for thirteen years, lined up for two hours and said the home ground advantage would see the Dockers through to the preliminary final.

Mr Arangio said it was a huge achievement for the WA teams to finish first and second on the ladder.

“Its great to have two qualifying finals at Subiaco, both clubs should be very proud considering the amount of travel we do throughout the season,” he said.

West Coast Eagles members and supporters will have their turn on Tuesday, with tickets going on sale from 9am.

It is a history-making season for Western Australia, with West Coast finishing second on the AFL ladder behind only Fremantle.

The city is buzzing with finals fever as both teams have a genuine opportunity to bring home the premiership cup.

Fremantle chief executive officer Steve Rosich told 6PR breakfast radio that this weekend would be an exciting time for WA football.

“I encourage everyone to get behind both teams in what will be an excellent showcase for WA,” he said.

“Finals footy is intense and it’s the best quality of football and we’re looking forward to Saturday.”

Two AFL finals in two days will mean staff at Domain Stadium will have their work cut out.

Domain Stadium staff member Pat Wilson said they were in for a busy week catering for about 85,000 people.

“We will have to change over all the signage between the games, so we will be condensing three days of work into a few hours,” he said.

“Everyone’s feeling excited, I guess we are pretty lucky to be able to work at such big games.”
