Twilight Hawkers Markets closes after tonight

The Twilight Hawkers Markets will be held for the final time this season in Perth’s CBD tonight.

In what has being dubbed ‘Super Size Night’, the market will have almost twice the number of stalls as in previous weeks.

The final event of the Eat, Drink Perth festival will extend throughout Murray St Mall and Forrest Place, starting at 4.30pm and finishing by 9pm.

The Twilight Hawkers Markets onsite event manager Shahar Flanders said the markets had been a resounding success.

“It’s been great to see how the people of Perth have come out to support the markets, especially this season. I think they have really enjoyed the variety and the atmosphere and the family friendly environment,” Shahar said.

“For the final market of the season, we still have our normal market, which is 40 stalls, and our usual Dessert Garden, but tonight we’ve extended all the way up to William St and we have another 25-30 stalls being set up there.

“On an average night we get about 10,000 people through the market. Tonight, we are expecting about 12,000 – 15,000 people for the last market of the season.”

Patrons at tonight’s markets will get a sneak peak at some of the stalls that are expected to join the markets next season, including two of the favourites from the recent Night Noodle Market, Fu Manchu & Banana Leaf.

Fu Mi’s Japanese Pancakes and Noodles co-owner and operator Seumiko Anderson said she and her husband had enjoyed this year’s series of markets.

“It has been a great experience for us. We set up a stall at the markets every year and it is fantastic to see so many people coming down and enjoying our food,” Anderson said.

“Our speciality is a mixed bowl of noodles and pancakes, which seems to be very popular with the customers. I also do my own special sauce which I sell at the stall as well, lots of people like it.”

The Twilight Hawkers Markets hope to start again in October.
